How to Remove Voot ActiveX TV Virus From Your PC
Voot Active X TV is an antivirus software program that installs itself on your PC and pretends to be an actual television. This way it can tell you when there is a potential threat to your computer from the internet or other types of threats. There are other similar programs out there, but none of them have such a clever fake-looking program. Not only does this virus cause problems for your PC, but it’s also potentially dangerous to others who may download the virus onto their systems. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to remove it if you have a weak or damaged Internet security profile.
One of the things that makes Voot so insidious is its “virus” application. Unlike many typical viruses out there, this program has legitimate-looking features. It’s not like some typical application that loads up on your system and then proceeds to do a lot of damage. This virus has several features that look legitimate but are fake. So how do you remove this virus? Like most other “scam” applications, it uses the same fake application model – just modified a bit to make it look a little more legitimate. It comes attached to a freeware program called Voot TV Player. You can see this virus in action by visiting the enable voot website, which has this message: “Voot ActiveX TV”. Pressing that link will take you to a page where you can choose whether you want to install the software or not www.voot.com activate.
If you’re installing it, this should not be a problem. However, it’s probably safer to just uninstall it instead. To do that, you should go to your Start Menu and click on Control Panel > Add-Ons. Under the category of “ability options”, you’ll see the option for voot TV Players.
This should remove the virus, but there’s one thing that’s kind of weird about it. There is an “activated” link that you can click. When you click that, nothing happens. That means that the virus can do all sorts of things – from blocking your computer’s programs and forcing you to reboot, to making your Internet browser homepage bigger than usual. The only way to get rid of the root is to stop it from loading in the first place.

To get rid of the virus, you have to stop it from loading, and that’s going to be a whole different topic! However, it’s a good idea to remove the enable voot ActiveX TV add-on, because of one single setting that’s related to the movie itself. To get to that part, click on Tools and then Add-Ons, and on the list of options, look for the ActiveX TV component.
That’s basically where you want to go to remove the fake Voot… once you’ve done that, you need to restart your system and then uninstall the Voot ActiveX TV component. You may see something like “enable voot Setup detected – removing”, or something similar. It should be one of those last two lines. Then just uninstall it and your computer should be fine.

This is where Voot is particularly insidious: it has many hidden registry keys and values that your PC needs to load the TV add-on.
