Sequoia National Park, located in the state of California , is known throughout the world for its huge sequoias. An attraction that has become the center of attraction for tourists from different parts of the world is the General Sherman Tree. This is the largest tree not only in the United States, but throughout the world. In addition, the park is full of other beautiful and unique attractions in the world, therefore, having arrived in Los Angeles , every tourist should visit this place.
Important: You can only get there by car, so the best option is to rent a car service or other local transport. There are two driving options – from Los Angeles and from San Francisco. The approximate travel time is 320 – 350 km.
Seasons
Sequoia is a huge tree, up to 100 meters high and up to 12 meters in diameter. A tree can live up to 3500-4000 years. The bark is so strong that it can even withstand wildfire.
Sequoia National Park is located in the mountains, so each of the seasons has its own characteristics:
From June to September the high season is here. It’s warm, the roads are open and free to drive, the weather is perfect for walking. The only negative is forest fires, which become more frequent during this period.
Low season reigns in the park from November to the end of March. There is snow all around, most of the roads are closed, so there is not access to all attractions. But the nature at this time looks excellent, therefore, if there is an opportunity, it is better to visit this place, both in summer and in winter.
From April to May and October is the off-season. If you decide to visit the park at this time, then you should carefully study the weather forecasts, as rains, snowfalls, clouds, cold and strong winds can spoil the whole impression of the trip.
Moro Rock
Moro Rock is a sheer granite rock that allows you to climb to its top using carved steps. The views that open from the cliff cannot be described in words. During the summer season, many squirrels can be seen climbing to the top.
Crescent Meadow
Crescent Meadow is a scenic meadow. This is an ideal place to relax, have a picnic. Sequoia National Park will allow you to take vivid photos in this place.
Tunnel Log
If you got to the Park, then first of all it is worth visiting the Tunnel Log, as we did. This is a tunnel that was made in a fallen, huge sequoia tree. The tunnel allows a passenger car not a limousine services to pass through it, so you should do it at least once, as you will get an unforgettable experience from this trip and a lot of original photos.
Parker Group
These are freestanding trees. There are not very many people here in any season. In order to admire the beauty of this group of trees, you need to know one peculiarity.
Important: A truly picturesque view of the Parker Group opens up from the side of the forest. How to get there? We left our vehicles on the road. Then we walked around this attraction, went a little deeper into the forest thicket and we got a really amazing view.
General Sherman Tree
This is the most famous and main attraction of the entire National Park. General Sherman’s tree is the largest in the world. Its appearance is really impressive. There is always a crowd of tourists at any time of the year. It is best to leave your car in the parking lot and walk about 500 meters to the very tree.
Crystal Cave
Crystal cave. Nature has created two opposites next to each other. The cave is located slightly away from the main route. If you have already visited other significant places in the park, then you can go to the Crystal Cave. Quite interesting landscapes can be seen next to this cave.
