I Can’t Wait for Things to Be Normal Again
I’m Sick of COVID Holding Me Back
I’m not sick with COVID, but I am sick of COVID. Every conversation I have these days eventually drifts to the pandemic, which always exasperates me; after all, COVID has brought all of our lives to a screeching halt. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I long for normality; there is so much we all want to go back to doing!
As life slowly transitions back to the status quo, I’ve been building a list of things that I want to do; so, without further ado, here are some of the ways I’ll spread my wings once COVID is nothing more than a not-so-fond memory!
Organizing a Family Reunion
It has been far too long since I’ve seen my relatives. None of them wants to get sick—especially my aunts and uncles and grandparents—which I understand, but that doesn’t mean that staying away from the people you love isn’t disheartening. In fact, I tried to organize a few small gatherings this year, and nobody wanted to come!
My hope is that, once things go back to normal, my family members will feel more comfortable catching up in person. I’ll be sure to host an outdoor barbecue with a bunch of burgers, hot dogs, French fries, and a slew of fun activities; it’ll be a real celebration!
Exercising More and Eating Healthier
I’ve certainly gained a few pounds since the beginning of the pandemic, mostly because I don’t want to go to the gym and risk coming down with the virus. I’ve also avoided going to the grocery store and tend to opt for fast food because I am tired of wearing a mask everywhere and don’t want to risk contracting COVID if I go indoors; there is a constant, looming paranoia that makes even buying a loaf of bread a terrifying prospect!
Once the pandemic is over, though, my plan is to visit the best restaurants in town and to reward myself for being so safe and conscious. Being able to socialize in public was something I took for granted before this all began, but now, I’ll make sure to treasure every single moment I spend out of the house!
Getting a Much-Needed Post-COVID Facelift
The pandemic has taken a toll not only on my mental health, but on my physical health. I look ten years older than I really am, all covered in wrinkles and lines and drooping jowls, probably because of the unending stress of living in such a dangerous world!
So, once COVID is over, I’m going to get a facelift to eradicate these new wrinkles—it’ll be like stepping into a time machine! I want my skin to tell a story of resilience, not of fear.
Going to the Bar with Friends Is Long Overdue
I miss all of the fun times I used to have with friends: visiting shops, trying new, exotic drinks, and catching movies at the local theater. There is nothing quite as rewarding as decompressing with your closest pals or girlfriends after a long day at work. I’m the kind of person who hates to be alone, so these nights out were what I looked forward to every week!
Spending time with others is incredibly important because we are social creatures who need interaction to be mentally healthy. That’s why I’m looking forward to hosting dinner and game nights without having to worry about anyone becoming ill!
Seeing Movies When They First Come Out
I miss the feeling of being in a movie theater and enjoying a complete sensory experience. There is something so thrilling about sitting in a dark room and experiencing stories with other people; maybe that’s why I like horror flicks so much! Even more exciting is bringing your family and friends to the movies; we all discuss the film after the credits roll!
Once the pandemic is over, I can’t wait to revisit theaters and bring all of my loved ones. We’re going to have such a great time doing what we’ve always loved to do!
