The Audi A7 is a stylish car that comes with a turbocharged V-6 powertrain. It is quiet and quick to operate, has a classy interior, and can be used as a hatchback or slammed as a sedan. The 2022 Audi A7 is a smooth driver, with its elegant fastback design and refined driving skills.
Audi conceals a hatchback in its fastback profile, making it more practical than mid-size luxury sedans. the Audi A7’s dramatic roofline makes it difficult to see behind the seats, the interior is spacious and well-appointed. The turbocharged 335-hp turbocharged V-6 is paired with an all-wheel-drive and a simple dual-clutch automated transmission. The handsome hatch is quick thanks to its polished powertrain, but we wish it had a more exciting soundtrack.
Transmission, Engine, and Performance
The standard powertrain for the A7 is a turbocharged V-6 with 335 horsepower and 369 Lb-ft torque. It has a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an onboard electric motor, making 362 horsepower. Although we haven’t yet had the opportunity to test the model, we have spent a lot of time with the V-6. Audi’s A7 seamlessly combines luxury and agility.
The car’s enthusiasm and its ethereal ride quality instantly stood out when we got behind the wheel. The expected thuds of harsh impacts were barely noticed despite the optional 21-inch wheels on our test car. The suspension’s softness was just as effective at controlling body movements and maximizing smoothness.
Infotainment & Connectivity
The Audi A7’s infotainment system features two touchscreens integrated into the center console and dashboard. Although the large icons are easy-to-finding and provide haptic feedback that is pleasant, the system can be distracting as it often requires the driver to look away from the road. Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto integration and a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard content. Two powerful Bang & Olufsen premium sound systems and wireless smartphone charging are desirable options.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo
The interior of the Audi A7 is impeccable in fit and finish, highlighted by beautiful materials and strong switchgear. Each cabin features ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, and leather seating surfaces. There is also three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and three-zone climate control. They can only be controlled via touchscreens which can be annoying.
The Audi A7 offers a comfortable driving position, which is enhanced by great outward visibility. The rear-seat passengers have climate control, power points to charge devices, and heated seats. These options are optional. The back seat can comfortably hold two adults but three people of the same size would find it too cramped. The A7’s power-operated liftback allows for seven carry-on bags to be stored behind the split-folding rear seat. With the seats folded down, it also accommodated 20 bags of luggage. We were able to fit a stroller and a golf bag in the cargo area. The interior space in the A7 is very limited. The A7’s front pockets are small and the center console only has one bin.
