Burj Khalifa, A UAE Wonder
Dubai is like the beacon of emerging nations. If a city can be the new age definition of wealth, Dubai is it. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, standing 830 meters high. It was built for two reasons: for everyone to see how rich Dubai is and to build a monument to Dubai’s glory. This skyscraper was featured in several movies like Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Mission Impossible 3, and Transformers 2.
The Burj Khalifa will have been standing for ten years on January 4, 2020. The tower was excavated in 2004, and it took six years to build before it could be inaugurated in January 2010. This artificial structure, which has 163 floors, is nearly three times as tall as the Eiffel Tower! 35,000 people can be accommodated here at once. The Hymenocallis flower served as inspiration for the design of the Burj (the Arabic term for tower) (spider lily).
Burj Khalifa can boast of holding a variety of records, including:
The world’s highest structure
highest freestanding building constructed by humans
most of a building’s floors (163)
highest apartment building in the world
The world’s tallest outdoor observation deck
the world’s longest-trip-distance elevator
high-rise elevator in the globe (1,654 ft)
Pristine Restaurant
a building’s highest fireworks display
greatest base leap from a structure
fastest cycling ascent of the Burj Khalifa (2 hr 20 min 38 sec).
The highest swimming pool indoors in the entire world (on Level 76)

- Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building.
- It was built in Dubai and opened in 2010.
It is 828 meters tall and has 162 floors, including 57 feet of residential apartments, with half occupied by residents. The remaining 107 floors comprise offices and hotel rooms, making it one of the most densely populated buildings on Earth, with 66,000 people living or working there at any given time. In addition to being home to the world’s tallest building, Dubai has another claim to fame: it is also home to one of our favorite restaurants – Souk Al Bahar!
Emaar Properties built this spectacular structure as part of its development project; however, they did not stop at just creating a tower that would stand out from all other systems around it: they also made sure that their masterpiece was sustainable and eco-friendly too!
At The Top, Burj Khalifa
The observation deck is located on the 124th floor, which means you’ll have a 360-degree view of the city. The Burj Khalifa is an island in a sea of skyscrapers, so the view from this observation deck makes it look even more impressive key posting than it already does.
It’s well worth checking out this incredible landmark while visiting Dubai. The observation deck is open to the public and free of charge, so you don’t have to pay anything extra if you want to experience this wonder firsthand! If you’re feeling brave, you can even go up there at night (but we’d wait until later in your trip).
The architecture of Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, standing at 828 meters tall. It was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM). This design firm also crafted many other iconic skyscrapers in Dubai, including Princess Tower and Dubai Mall.
The structure was completed in 2010 and cost $1.5 billion to build. It took approximately seven years to complete construction on this great UAE wonder!
Parking Spaces
Burj Khalifa has 20 floors of parking spaces total and 10,000 parking spaces in the two underground parking lots open 24 hours a day. The parking lots are located on the ground floor and first basement. During prayer times (Fajr 6:30 AM, Dhuhur 1:30 PM, Asr 3:30 PM), you can’t enter or exit Burj Khalifa by car but must use an elevator to get to your destination. Book a trusted safe driver to drive you around.
Elevators
There are 43 elevators in the Burj Khalifa, and 10 have been installed for public use. All these elevators can hold up to 10 people at a time. Each one is fitted with a fire alarm and an emergency call button so that you can call for help if need be. The speeds of these elevators reach 8 meters per second (m/s), or approximately 16km/h (10mph). This means they go up faster than most car drives on a highway!
It’s incredible how many people have used these elevators since they opened their doors in 2010. It’s also interesting to note that when you’re traveling inside one of these fantastic machines, you’ll travel three times faster than an airplane during take-off!
Observatory Deck
The Observatory Deck is located on the 124th floor of Burj Khalifa. It is open to the public and offers a 360-degree view of Dubai, including many other skyscrapers.
