The American silver eagle is so popular because it has a renowned Walking Liberty design which originally appeared in 1916 on the half dollar. The design, which was made by Adolph A. Weinman, helped create Walking Liberty one of the world’s most magnificent monuments, half a dollar (hits from 1916 to 1947).
