Changes to 2K23 gameplay
The full description of the NBA 2K23 gameplay changes has been posted on the official game blog. These closures include Shot Meters, adrenaline Boosts, more realistic gameplay graphics, and more. These changes will bring us a better gameplay experience, and whether or not it gains my affection, it is a success.
How can NBA 2K23 be a success?
Judging whether a game is successful or not is not what it has to do, but what it needs to do to attract more players. For NBA 2K23, it needs to get players who like games like NBA 2K14, 2k13, etc. to like the game.
Trying to get these players to like 2K23 is very difficult. For commercial reasons many of the changes that players want will never happen. Many players are more enthusiastic about the retro style of NBA 2K14. However, many players will approach each game with an open mind. If these players can have fun in the new game, then they will get into it. Therefore, as long as NBA 2K23 can make the right improvements, then this game can attract more players.
What changes do players want in NBA 2K23?
Players want 2K23 to be more fluid. The sluggishness that players felt when they entered the previous 2K21 and 2K22 created a frustration that players did not feel with 2K19 or 2K20. Simply put, the previous games in the series weren’t fun.
It wasn’t that players couldn’t understand how the game worked, but they didn’t like the implementation of certain ideas. They were bothered by the legacy of problems left over through at least three generations and multiple game engines. A game “built from the ground up” on Next Gen feels a lot like the Current Gen version. It runs on fumes and is no longer a priority. I am experiencing severe NBA 2K fatigue and Next Gen is not revolutionizing gameplay that needs to be updated.
Eliminating those legacy issues could help 2K23 win over the masses of players. This means AI players can’t see the player behind them and thus intercept our ball. Players will also move more fluidly, rather than like running through the mud. the AI opponents won’t be far faster than us either. The shooting mechanics need to be balanced when it comes to shot success rates that are controversial with the CPU.
Simpler control methods
Dribbling controls are much simpler, with simple moves requiring the simplest of joystick movements. No need to have all kinds of fancy skills like shot aiming skills, dunks, layups, etc. The sprint meter needs to be expended at a reasonable speed compared to how often we need to move at top speed and utilize advanced moves. Realistic strategies should be rewarded and the gameplay should be smooth and balanced overall.
The mechanics, AI, movement, and balance in the game make it interesting, so they remain very well maintained. That’s not to say they’re perfect, but they’re better compared to the direction the series has taken.
Gameplay and Depth Mode
The debate about the importance of great gameplay versus deep modes is timeless. The truth is that the best games have both good gameplay and deep modes. For the most part, NBA 2K does offer engaging modes. As you delve into the modes of NBA 2K, you will find the right mode. If you like the game, then there are a variety of options to keep you hooked.
MyCAREER and MyTEAM
NBA 2K14’s MyCAREER’s focus on recurring revenue has sucked the fun out of the journey. And we don’t see any changes in NBA 2K23, so NBA 2K23’s MyCAREER may not appeal to me.
Nonetheless, it’s a deep mode I’d like to dip into if I wanted to. the same goes for MyTEAM, which is easier to enjoy via No Money Spent. I quickly lost interest in Season Rewards and like all models with real-time service content. I don’t think there will be much change here because it’s not conducive to maximizing profits. If I’m going to spend time playing NBA 2K23 and the mode isn’t too greedy, I hope I’ll see MyTEAM.
Other impressive improvements include more focus on classic team details, reaching agreements to include missing players, and expanding the roster editing feature. Borrowing ideas from NBA Live, such as atmosphere settings, or a full, well-produced All-Star Weekend mode. If these can be added, then most players will have a more positive overall impression of NBA 2K23.
Will NBA 2K23 win me over?
NBA 2K has a virtual monopoly on the genre, selling millions of copies and earning millions of dollars from VC sales. It received positive reviews, and many people loved NBA 2K21 and NBA 2K22. We didn’t see NBA 2K23 with a brand new engine or fixing the bugs that plagued the series for years. In an era where MyPLAYER cosmetics are being heavily promoted, many of the problems will not be fixed.
They will also change in response to player requests. Many players have expressed frustration in the game. the removal of shooting aim in NBA 2K22 shows that the developers are paying attention to what players want. Players do not have unrealistic expectations of perfection, and NBA 2K is not as rough as NBA Live. Nonetheless, there was disappointment when players entered the next season.
Hopefully, we will be overwhelmed by NBA 2K23 and be happy with a new game again. We also already know a lot about NBA 2K23, including a lot of gameplay changes.
